I was a young activist, media did not interest me. I thought
most image makers used media to "filter" a wonderfully
raw and robust actuality. Later, I became fascinated by how
images seemed necessarily to mediate one's own view of actuality.
So I began teaching about images and also making them myself.
Perhaps I had gotten older and wiser. Or perhaps just older
and more timid. In any case, the work is absorbing and discussion
and collaboration with so diverse a group of colleagues is exciting.
Erst kommt das Fressen, dann die Moral.
